About
Hi, I’m Blainor.
I’m a forest therapy guide focused on the health and environmental benefits of forest therapy. My work helps people unplug, de-stress, and relieve burnout - while improving physical health, memory, mood, creativity, and sense of social and planetary connection.
My background is in horticulture, community building, and exploring the outdoors. I am certified in wilderness first aid, forest therapy guiding, and I have a masters in Adult and Higher Education with a focus on forest therapy. You can find me on Instagram, and Facebook, and I live and work in Maine.
How My Work Might Benefit You
My work draws from current research taking place in Japan demonstrating that simple forest therapy techniques can improve health, immunity, memory, creativity, and promote feelings of social connection and empathy. Part of the value of forest bathing lies in its accessibility and its unique ability to shift our mental state, with techniques that you can bring into your everyday life - whether in the forest or in your own backyard.
I’m personally drawn to forest therapy because I love trees and nature so much, and I am deeply concerned about the state of our planet and its social systems. I believe that forest therapy is a way of communicating and improving many of these challenges. I’m fascinated by the tangible and intangible health benefits forest therapy has to offer, and I have found the forest to be essential to my own health. I enjoy connecting with others outdoors, and find the forest to be a place of endless rejuvenation and creativity.
As a forest therapy guide I am not a doctor, therapist, or healer; I simply help people experience the forest in new ways and share some of the new research and benefits forest therapy has to offer. As Amos Clifford, founder and guide of the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy puts it…
“the forest is the therapist - the guide opens the door.”
If you have a medical or psychological issue, I can not help you with that. However, combining forest therapy with other medical or counseling regimens may be helpful to you.
